Job Title: Legal & Regulatory Officer (Assistant)

Reporting to: Head of Legal Operations and Governance
Job Purpose
The Legal & Regulatory Officer (Assistant) will support the Head of Legal Operations and Governance in providing legal and compliance support across CSquared’s Anglophone markets, including Ghana, Liberia, and Uganda. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to respond to legal service requests, support the drafting and review of legal documents and commercial agreements, and assist in ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
The Legal Officer will contribute to the identification and management of legal risks by conducting legal research, providing preliminary legal analysis, and supporting the delivery of practical legal guidance to business teams. The role also provides support for corporate governance and corporate secretarial matters, including board and shareholder documentation at the country level, and involves coordinating with external counsel and regulatory authorities where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the provision of legal advice on applicable legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly within the telecommunications sector in Ghana, Liberia, and Uganda.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, including telecommunications law, competition law, and data protection law, and help track legislative or regulatory developments that may affect CSquared’s operations.
- Monitor and manage legal service requests, supporting the provision of timely legal guidance to internal teams and escalating issues where necessary.
- Assist with the drafting, review, and management of contracts and other legal documentation to support business operations.
- Support the Head of Legal Operations and Governance in corporate governance matters, including the preparation of board and shareholder resolutions, board packs, and meeting documentation.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel on assigned matters, including corporate secretarial support, litigation updates, and document reviews, under the supervision of the Head of Legal Operations and Governance.
- Support engagements with customers, partners, and regulators on legal or compliance matters when required.
- Conduct legal research and prepare internal memos or summaries on legal, regulatory, or compliance issues relevant to the business.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and external advisers.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from an accredited institution.
- Must be called to the Bar in Ghana or another Common Law jurisdiction.
- 1–3 years of post-qualification legal experience, gained within a reputable law firm and/or as an in-house legal officer or legal associate in the telecommunications, technology, or a related sector.
- Demonstrated experience or exposure to commercial contract drafting, legal research, regulatory compliance, or corporate governance support will be an advantage.
- Experience working within Ghana or another Common Law jurisdiction is required; exposure to Liberia or Uganda will be considered an advantage.
- A Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from an accredited institution will be an added advantage.
